We all have a responsibility to ensure the protection of our environment and its resources for future generations to enjoy. The Protecting Our World Theme Group works closely with all the other Theme Groups to ensure that all activity has sustainability at its heart.

In working to maintain and improve the quality of the local environment in Horsham District the Community Partnership aims to:

• Enhance and conserve biodiversity
  
  
• Reduce or eliminate risks from pollution to humans, wildlife and the environment
  
  
• Promote waste minimisation with the aim of zero waste
  
  
• Provide sustainable access opportunities throughout the District
  
  
• Support the local economy and locally produced food
  
  
• Promote sustainable construction, refurbishment and maintenance of building and reduce green land take

• Promote resource efficiency to reduce pressure on natural resources
  

Protecting our world can be enjoyable too – our 2006-7 Action Plan includes the development of a Green Spaces Directory identifying local places available for public enjoyment and walks.
