Horsham District is one of the healthiest places in the country to live. There is little, if any, absolute deprivation, such as lack of shelter, clean water or food. However there is relative deprivation and disadvantage. Health is not just about medicines and treatments, but also about lifestyle, work and the choices we make throughout our lives.

The Healthier Horsham Partnership is a multi-agency partnership between Horsham District Council, Horsham and Chanctonbury PCT and West Sussex Social and Caring Services to identify those areas of work that benefit from joint planning and delivery to prevent duplication and ensure improved services.

The Partnership includes within its membership the Voluntary sector. The Partnership’s Strategic Objectives are to:

  • Support people to live independently

  • Protect and promote the well being of children and young people

  • Support carers

  • Improve partnership working

  • Reduce hospital admissions

Our 2006-7 Action Plan aims to deliver three projects to support:

  1. Children and Young People understanding the Health and Environmental impact of how they travel to school

  2. Health services staff understanding the needs of carers

  3. Improvement of mental and sexual health services for young people
